There is only a week to go until our RFID Self Service system goes live on Monday 9th September.
The Self Service Kiosks will provide a new and accessible way of borrowing and returning books.
Two kiosks have been installed at the Edinburgh Campus Library and one at the Borders Campus Library. They have touch screens and an easy to use interface with clear instructions.
To borrow books you need your library card, Student Identity Card or new Staff Card.
Swipe your card over the bar code reader on the kiosk then place your books into the slot in the kiosk. You can place up to 10 books at a time to be scanned and identified. Printed receipts are available which detail the books you have borrowed and the return dates. To return books, all you have to do is place them in the slot in the kiosk, follow the on screen instructions, then place them in the book return bin or trolley as instructed. You can also renew books and pay any outstanding fines.
The Self Service kiosks provide an excellent addition to our current circulation service and will be particularly useful later in the semester when we are open 24/7.
There will be library customer service staff on hand to help students and staff use the kiosks during the first few weeks of semester. Please come along and try them out.
