Trial of Engineering Case Studies Online

Engineering Case Studies Online gives in-depth, impartial analysis of more than 50 key engineering failures.  Materials in the collection include:

  • video documentaries about major engineering failures.
  • books explaining cases in detail and describing key engineering concepts and issues.
  • simulations of what went wrong.
  • primary footage of accidents, including related news segments.

Coverage includes the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Esso Longford gas explosion, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse (“Galloping Gertie”), TWA flight 800 and the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

We have arranged for a trial of this resource during July 2014.  Please send any feedback about this resource, including whether you think it would be useful for teaching, to Kirsty Thomson.

Update 21st July: The Engineering Case Studies Online trial is now available from Dubai, Orkney and Malaysia campuses, and from off-campus.
