During July and August there are going to be some exciting improvements taking place in the Edinburgh campus library.
The first floor, which is the entrance floor, is going to be developed to provide more group study space and a new Service Desk.
In response to feedback from students requesting that we need to provide more group study space, we are installing new furniture and fittings.
There will be some new tables and seating in the rooms behind the old Service Desk which are designed for collaborative study. There will also be some seating booths with built in tables and plasma screens which will be ideal for group discussions.
The new Service Desk will provide an easily accessible place to receive help for both library and IT enquiries.
The work on these developments is starting immediately. We have already set up a temporary Service Desk including IT Help and Interlibrary loans – this is on the first floor (entrance floor) near the windows. From this temporary desk we will continue to offer our usual helpful and professional service.
The building work will cause some disruption and noise especially this week i.e. 7th – 11th July, but we will try to keep this to a minimum.
It will be possible to access the second and third floors via the alternative staircase so there will be study spaces available as usual.
If you have any questions, please come and ask at the temporary Service Desk or telephone 0131 451 3577 or email ServiceDesk@hw.ac.uk
We will post regular updates to the InformS blog and to twitter @HWU_IS
