The Principal’s Visit to the Library

On Monday 7th September, the new Principal of Heriot-Watt University, Richard Williams, visited our Edinburgh Campus Library.  He came along to see the recent improvements that we have made to the physical and online services that Information Services provide for students and staff across the university.  It was an excellent opportunity for the Principal to have a look around, meet Information Services staff and discuss the excellent services we provide.

The Director of Information Services, Mike Roch, gave an introduction and overview of Information Services and explained recent improvements to the library and plans for future developments.

There was then a tour around the library building to show our self-service facilities which now include short loans and reservations, new study spaces on the third floor due to the relegation of unused stock and a brand new silent study space for students with garden views.  Other Information Services staff gave brief talks about the improvements in IT Infrastructure and applications and also about teaching and learning spaces both in the library and across campus.
