Heriot-Watt students now have access to Cite Them Right Online – a web-based citing & referencing resource from Palgrave MacMillan Higher Education.
Use it to find out how to reference sources ranging from a printed book to a live performance in a number of different styles (Harvard, APA, MLA, Vancouver).
The site also has information on the basics of referencing, top 10 referencing tips, understanding plagiarism and lots more.
An accompanying textbook called ‘Cite Them Right’ is also available in the library.
If you use Endnote and use the Harvard style for referencing, you will see an output style designed to match the Harvard Cite Them Right Online style when formatting your references or using Cite While You Write.
Please note: the Harvard style used in the new Cite Them Right Online resource varies in some of the details to our existing Harvard Guide. If you have been advised to use the latter guide and style, please continue to do so as the Harvard examples given in the Cite Them Right Online may differ.
