The National Student Survey 2017 (NSS) launches at HWU today, giving final year UG students in Scotland the opportunity to let us know what we are doing well, and also where we could improve. Sharing your views on your experience with us will help us to be responsive to the needs of future HWU students.
Information Services have been working hard to improve the library and IT services we provide and to respond to your feedback, not just in the NSS, but at any time throughout the year. Following your feedback we have:
- Introduced the new Learning Commons and increased study space across the Edinburgh Campus
- Improved library services, including 24hr opening on the Edinburgh Campus, self-issue and 52,000 new e-books
- Increased the speed and capacity of our network, improving communications between campuses
- Extended the library opening hours at the Scottish Borders Campus
- Refreshed the Vision interface to give it a cleaner, more modern look and feel
And, later in 2017, we will be starting on a major £6m project, to upgrade and refurbish the Edinburgh campus library.
You can check out some of the other things we have done over the past couple of years in our “review of the year” posts: –

If you are eligible to take part in the NSS, you will be contacted directly by Ipsos MORI, the survey organisers. You can go directly to www.thestudentsurvey.com to find out more and to complete the survey until 30 April 2017.
