Hackable gifts

There will undoubtedly be a lot of hackable gifts under a lot of Christmas trees this year – laptops, tablets, drones, connected toys for the kids, and more gadgets and appliances for the home that connect to the Internet. It’s all exciting stuff – but comes with a serious security warning.

Before you dive in and do your purchases or get connected, remember to

  • Research before you buy – check and see if your intended purchase has any reported security issues (Google it!)
  • Change the default password on each device – and keep it unique and secure

And don’t connect to bank accounts or other private/personal accounts over public Wi-Fi
