Free eResources for students and staff during the Covid-19 situation
While you are studying, teaching, and carrying out research off-campus, don’t forget that you can still access all of the Heriot-Watt University Library’s eResources.
A good place to start is by searching Discovery, the IS Guides on a wide range of subjects, and the A-Z of databases.
In addition to all the usual eResources, we are currently providing temporary access to a number of new resources. The providers of these resources have made them freely available to the academic community as part of their Covid-19 response. This includes resources across a wide range of HWU subject areas from engineering to fashion. Included are eJournals and eBooks that provide access to content from publishers like Bloomsbury, Elsevier, ICE, IOP, Springer and Cambridge University Press. More details can be found on the HWU website.
Students can also sign up for the VitalSource offer of seven free eTextbooks to use until 30th June – more details are available on the HWU website. This is in addition to the usual HWU eBooks, available from Discovery. It is also now possible for many of our eBooks to be accessed by more students at once than usual due to publisher goodwill at this difficult time.
To find out more about all of the extra resources temporarily available to staff and students visit the HWU website which will display the full list.
