The courtyard area to the front of the Edinburgh Campus Library is being revamped and improved. This will provide an exciting, new seating area for studying and socialising.
The construction work will start at on Monday September 20th and during this time, the main entrance to the Library will be out of use. Access to the Library will be from the east side around the back of the Library. Please follow the path round the Library building and use the door near the museum and fire pond. It will also be possible to access the Library via the Mary Burton building – please look out for signage.
Semester is over, exams are done and it is the summer, so now is a good time to return any Library books that you still have out on loan from our Edinburgh Campus Library.
If you are still living in Edinburgh, then please bring any books to the Library during opening hours Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. Or you can return them to the Book Return Box at the entrance to the Library at any time.
If you are living elsewhere in the UK then we can supply you with a pre-paid postage label for you to post the books back to the Library. Please contact us for more details at ServiceDesk@hw.ac.uk or 0131 451 3577

Exams start on Monday 26th April which means that some of our eBooks will be in high demand. We have been buying extra copies of our most popular eBook titles but many of them have a limit on the number of people who can use them at once.
Please check Discovery and use copies on both platforms if available – VLeBooks and Ebook Central. We may have two sets of Ebook Central copies due to publisher permissions – please use both sets as they are not the same copies.
Some eBooks can only be read online. If a copy is not available immediately, please keep trying. The Ebook Central platform will allow five minutes reading time if all copies are in use. A copy will become free as soon as someone else stops using it. If all copies are currently in use please try again later.
If possible, please plan in advance and make sure you have the information you need before your exam starts. Many eBooks will allow you to copy and/or download an amount set by the publisher which you can keep and refer back to. If you have any questions, let us know via ISHelp@hw.ac.uk
